Bill Kristol and Danielle Allen

Our fantastic first Live episode of “The Headstrong Club”

Enjoy this fun, intellectual chat between Bill Kristol and Danielle Allen in The Renovator’s first monthly Substack Live episode of “The Headstrong Club.”

The Headstrong Club was the name of the debating society that Thomas Paine participated in during his six years as an excise collector (yes, that means tax collector!) in Lewes, England, from 1768 to 1774. The Substack universe is reviving the pamphleteering spirit of that revolutionary age, which catapulted the world toward the project of human freedom.

It’s fitting that this first Headstrong Club episode between Danielle and Bill begins with a historical discussion of Paine, as well as Edmund Burke. They then hone in on the idea of a “Loyal Opposition” in America.
